Okra Shrewsbury SY1 1ST

Popped in here, because we were getting hungry! It offers a smashing and comprehensive vegan street food menu which is absolutely delicious. I didn’t want the homemade bread bun so I was offered the option of having my meal as a ‘bowl’. Great value, no pretentiousness and superb food.

I've always been quite skeptical of 100% plant based food, but im glad to say this was beyond a pleasant surprise. I had the Tokyo burger which tasted divine. The tofu was incredibly flavourful and the texture was mouth watering. It paired beautifully with the mushroom ragu and washing mayonnaise. It was so tasty, I had to go back the next day to get another. If you're looking for something cheap and delicious, and don't want the guilt of eating meat, I cannot recommend this place enough!

Stopped in for a quick lunch whilst on a short break nearby. Quirky little place with friendly service and really tasty homemade food. The burgers were delicious. Hope to be back in the future.

We only had a few hours in Shrewsbury and after seeing a fully plant based cafe we knew we had to go! I can quite honestly say this was the best burger I’ve ever had, everything was homemade, even the bun! I had the Tokyo with miso mushroom ragu and my partner had the Korean with their homemade kimchi! The atmosphere was just delightful and we are now planning a longer trip to the town just so we can eat there again! Also 13.50 for two sandwiches was amazing

You ever get that feeling when certain people make food with love, it transcends into their cooking, this is one of those places! I had the chefs special miso noodle soup, with kimchi and I can hands down say that it was one of the most beautiful and delicious things I have ever eaten. I eat a lot of Thai and Asian food, and some places don't get it right but Okra has mastered the flavours and what's great is it's all plant based - so many options for vegan and gluten free. I wish that Okra had one of their restaurants in the West Midlands because I would definitely be a frequent visitor to try out the rest of their menu!

Honestly the best lunch spot we've ever been to! You can really tell everything was made with love and the recipes so well thought out! The smoothie I had was also just incredible. Lovely staff and welcoming decor - I just wish we lived in Shrewsbury so we could visit more often!!

we had an array of food all of which were delicious, i would especially recommend the kimchi burger and polenta fries can’t go wrong with a choccy milk wouldn’t have even thought it was a vegan cafe super good xxx

I’ve been to Okra twice now, and I am OBSESSED! I tried the Tokyo burger - Beautiful sweet bun, very crispy tofu coating and lovely texture to the tofu and very flavoursome! Nice kick to the wasabi mayo and lovely crunch from the lettuce and daikon. The miso mushroom ragu added umami and another layer of flavour. Absolutely top burger. Also tried the Chippy T which is phenomenal!! Crispy, lovely curry sauce and a great hash brown. The triple cooked chips are also great! Service is very friendly, fast and efficient, and the food is uncompromising on flavour. One of my new favourite places to eat, not just in Shrewsbury, but in the UK! Food is also very reasonably priced and excellent value for money!
